In the early 90s Plow Monday (then known as Societal Jive) recorded an EP that was distributed at their shows, entitled “No More Mister Frowny Face.” The group’s style at that time was still mostly a form of heavy metal, with notable influences from the burgeoning grunge movement of the early and mid-1990s.

In 1995, the three-piece changed their name one last time to Plow Monday and formally released another EP, calling the record “Societal Jive” after the band’s former name. The record was met with favorable reviews, receiving three out of four stars by the Austin Chronicle’s Christopher Hess.
